A Major Discovery (December 2024)

This website exists because a discovery made in late 2024 renders the existing catalogue framework insufficient. What began as an attribution problem now appears to point toward a larger and previously unrecognized network of works, references, and structural correspondences that runs through Duchamp’s oeuvre.

The importance of that discovery extends beyond the reclassification of a single object. It suggests that works long treated as peripheral or discrete may instead belong to an underlying system that the current literature has not yet adequately registered. Duchamp’s production, in other words, cannot be fully understood only through isolated masterworks or familiar categories; it must also be read through the network of relations that connects paintings, readymades, texts, and collaborations.

This site exists to document that network. It does not presume to replace the existing canon by assertion; it lays out the evidence, clarifies the method, and provides a framework in which these works can be reconsidered on their merits.
